The Covid-19 crisis has dealt Beccles Public Hall and Theatre a devastating blow and we need your help as we tentatively move forward in these challenging times.
We closed the Hall on 17th March 2020 and from then on until we partially reopened in September, almost all our income dried up. As a registered charity, we have no regular public funding and rely mainly on ticket sales, bar income and the hire income to maintain the Public Hall as an entertainment venue and vital community resource for Beccles.
We are indebted to those patrons who have offered donations or donated their ticket refunds and understand that not everyone is able to do so at the current time. Whilst we are hugely grateful for this wonderful generosity, we need more help to navigate this crisis and to recover.
Although we are now able to reopen our doors, the strict Covid-19 Secure guidelines that must be met have meant additional costs for increased cleaning, hygiene screens and hand sanitiser stations as well as significantly reduced capacity in the Hall owing to social distancing requirements. We also still have ongoing costs every month for such as building maintenance, insurance, utilities and various entertainment and venue licences.
We must do all we can protect the future of our iconic Hall & Theatre in the very heart of Beccles and the next few months will be crucial for our survival.
We are exploring all options to allow us to present as diverse a programme as possible until such time as social distancing measures are fully lifted. However, to deliver any of those, we will need your financial support as all of them require some level of subsidy.
Please consider becoming part of our lifeline by donating whatever you can. Your support will help secure a future for our venue and will allow us to continue to provide high quality entertainment for the people of Beccles and beyond. Thank you.
