Beccles Public Hall and Theatre are keeping it in the family with the appointment of Megan Gallagher as Front of House Manager.
Megan is the second generation to work at the charity in Beccles with her father John who is the Hall’s Technical Manager and mother, Theresa who ensures the Hall is ready for its numerous events.
Megan joins team at Beccles Public Hall and Theatre having completed her degree in Theatre Production (Arts and Stage Management) with a First Class Honours at University of Winchester.
The family affair isn’t just limited to three members of the Gallagher family who currently work for The Public Hall and Theatre. Older sister Louise has also volunteered at the Hall too, helping behind the bar and the town’s popular Autumn Beer Festival.
The family have been supporting the Public Hall for a number of years as volunteers. With Megan also having worked part time at Beccles Lido whilst at school and college. Beccles Public Hall and Theatre and Beccles Lido both form part BLL (Beccles Lido Limited) which is a registered charity.
Beccles Lido Limited (BLL) was set up in 2009 by Shaun Crowley, Suzanne Gibbons and Maureen Saunders to acquire the neglected heated open-air swimming pool in Beccles and to create Beccles Lido. BLL went on to acquire The Public Hall and Theatre in October 2011. Both are run as charities under one registered charity number. All performances at The Hall fundraise for the ongoing running and maintenance of the Hall to ensure it is kept as a facility for Beccles and the surrounding area for years to come.
Megan, John and Theresa are often found working Front of House at many of the Hall’s events and performances. Whilst also working hard behind the scenes. Part of Megan’s role is to recruit volunteers to the Hall who help with running the Box Office, Bar and acting as Ushers. If you would like to volunteer at Beccles Public Hall and Theatre, please contact Megan on FOH@becclespublichall.com
